For Jaynee (from your friend, Skylar)

This "hey girl" is the first from our guest bloggers this week.  I still need more!!!!  I'm gone until next Wednesday, so without your help.... there will be no "hey girl" funnies!!!  Put on your creative thinking caps and download some cute guys!   And y'all give it up for Skylar!!  She did a great job.  Show her some "comment love" and let her know you appreciate it.

A word from Sylvie...

Hey girls!

I need your help!!!

I'm headed to Tucson in a few days where I will be exhibiting and teaching.  I'm doing TWO shows this year, which means I'm extremely swamped preparing and packing.

Want to help lighten the load???  Send me a "hey girl" of your very own.  I'll pick 5 of them to feature next week.  You pick the hunk... you write the text.  I'll add the silly tags.  No prize this time, just bragging rights.

The particulars...

1.  Keep it PG-13.  If it makes me blush, I probably won't post it!
2.  Keep it around 500 pixels wide in 72dpi
3.  Make the text in a font that's clear and easy to read (helvetica, verdana, etc.)
4.  Make it funny!
5.  Send it to sylviebead @ yahoo. com  (leave out the spaces)

If you have a website to plug... include that and I'll be happy to add your info to the post.  Hopefully I'll get enough to keep the blog going while I'm off selling.

Happy Friday!!!!!!

Sylvie

P.S.  If you're in Tucson, COME BUY BEADS!!!!  I'll be at the Whole Bead Show AND the Best Bead Show and I've got fun fun stuff!  (and spaces still available in my classes at Whole Bead... so come have a blast and bead with me!)

A word from Sylvie...

Hey girls!

I didn't forget you this morning... I'm just having technical difficulties (translated:I forgot what day it is and posted 2 things for tomorrow and none for today. I can't seem to correct it remotely, so when I emerge from the studio this afternoon, I promise to post today's "hey girl".)

Sorry!!!

Back to beads! Tucson is less than 2 weeks away!!!

A word from Sylvie...

Hey girls!!

It's that time of day... time for me to interrupt the eye-candy for "important" announcements.

Today's announcement is that we HAVE A WINNER!!!

Ya'll sent in some FUNNY stuff for the "Hey girl" for ME contest.  I know that Mr. Benrubi was a challenge, but you rose to the occasion and some of you CRACKED me up!

The winner of the challenge was the very prolific Eva, who sent in 3 entries and ALL of them were super funny, but this one just tickled my funny bone, because it was JUST silly enough AND close to home-enough to be perfect for ME.

Eva wins her choice of a $10 Starbucks or Amazon gift card AND one of my PDF patterns that are on sale this month!!!  (I'll email you with details, but they're listed a few entries down in the blog)

Second place goes to Sharon, who was a smart cookie and found a picture of Mr. Benrubi as Ben, the sensitive bartender from Men in Trees, which is the reason he was my "hey girl" guy in the first place AND she referenced my mad-dash toward Tucson AND knows that when I get there, I will TOTALLY be ready for a cocktail!  Thanks Sharon!!  Sharon wins one of the PDF patterns also!

There were so many great entries... it was hard to chose, SO if you entered, you'll be getting an email from me letting you know that you've ALL won a free "Hey Girl Bribe"  asking who your bead-hunk will be!

Thank you for making ME laugh!!!

Watch for another contest announcement at the end of this week!

Have a great day!!

Sylvie

Happy Friday from Sylvie!

Hey girls!
Happy Friday!!

Just a quick reminder that tonight at midnight (EST) the first Beaded Laughter contest ends.
Don't miss your chance to win a $10 Amazon or Starbucks gift-card for your creative efforts!

Here is an example of one of the entries that made me giggle...

(I think I DID teach there!)

Big News!  We have a Beaded Laughter Facebook Page
JUST to make it easier for you to read on the go!

And don't forget about the pattern sale in my Sylviebeads store!

Have a GREAT Friday!!!

Sylvie

P.S.  My "to-do" list of bead-hunk bribes is just about complete, which means we'll be back to ALL GERARD BUTLER ALL THE TIME (which I totally wouldn't mind).  But if you'd rather see some other bead-hunks, have a request for yourself or a fun dedication for a friend, see the box on the right with the amazon logo and get the bribery details!

A word from Sylvie...

It's that time of day...  the time when I interrupt your bead-hunk viewing to say stuff.

I promise I'll be quick!
(maybe... I'll try anyways)

Here's the scoop...  Sylvie needs to pay some bills!
(seriously)

SO I'm having a sale on my beadwork PDF patterns JUST for my Hey Girl readers.

I have 3 different patterns available and for the rest of this month they will be $5 off for
Hey Girl readers.  You need to enter HEYGIRL as the coupon code (the code will take $10 off... $5 off the item and $5 off for shipping... my cart can't figure out the PDFs are e-mailed not shipped thing).

If you are ordering more than one pattern, you need to place separate orders to get $5 off EACH pattern... it will only give the discount once per order.  Does that make sense?  Hope so!

I have really fun projects and this is one of them...

How cute is that??!!  Right??!
It's a tiny beaded sweater that you can wear as a pin or on a necklace.
(make a bunch of sweaters and string them up together like the "clothesline" shown above)

I've got matching overalls too!!!

If you're a lampworker or someone with a great stash of art beads you're looking to show off, my Halo Necklace or Bracelet is a GREAT pattern.  It's something even a fairly new beader could handle!  (trust me... my sister did this as her FIRST beadwork project... without my help!)

REMEMBER... enter the code HEYGIRL when you check-out!
Good through 1/31/12

This ends the Sylvie's self-promotion portion of the blog for today.

(and for those of you who haven't sent your Hey Girl entries for the contest... you have till midnight tomorrow night.  The ones I've received have been SO fun to read!!!  Some are FUNNY FUNNY FUNNY and some of ya'll made me blush!)

A word from Sylvie...

Hey girls!!

It's that time of day... time for a word from me.  :)

First of all, thank you for all your fun comments and emails.  It really is nice knowing that I'm making you laugh till you spit your drinks on your computer screens....that said,  I can't afford to fix them, so please be careful!!

I keep hoping the funny doesn't run out and I still have something to post each day, but as you can tell, I'm sort of rationing them now... I have some "back-orders" of special requests, but I could always use more.  It seems the funniest things come from having to fit a bead-hunk in with the interests of the person sending a bribe.  It DOES help to know if you're a lampworker, beader, metal-smith, etc. when you send a request, so add that too if possible.

Thank you for your entries in the first Hey Girl contest... I'm getting a kick out of reading them!!  Remember, you have until Friday, midnight EST to get your entry in.  (If you don't know about the contest, look at yesterday's posting)

Have a fabulous day...  go make fun stuff!

And now a word from Sylvie...

Sorry to distract you from the bead-hunks for a minute,
but I've got an announcement...

and it's a fun one (I think!)

It's time for a contest!!!!!!
YAY!!!

You all have treated me to some FABULOUS coffee and book gift certificates
and I'd like to treat one
of YOU to a gift certificate of your own!!

Here's the deal....

I thought it would be fun if you made a "hey girl" for me!   Some of your "custom order" bead-hunks haven't been the easiest for me because we all have our own types (which is what makes life interesting, right?) and my own request might be as hard for you as some of them have been for me.  I love this actor... he played a sensitive bartender in "Men in Trees" (I miss that show!)  He's not the leading-man type that a lot of the "hey girl" hunks have been, but I can just tell he REALLY would care about whether or not I had enough kits made by June and that really wants to help carry my bins and boxes to my booth!  Who is he?  Abraham Benrubi  (you can google and find info/images too!)

SO... make ME a fun "hey girl"with an image of Mr. Benrubi and send it to... sylviebead @ yahoo . com (leave out the spaces)  The size needs to be around 500 pixels wide and 72 dpi.  You have until this Friday, January 13, 2012 Midnight Eastern Standard Time to get your entries in.  I'll pick my favorite, and they'll get either a Starbucks gift card or an Amazon gift card for $10.

If you know him in real life... please see if he is busy in June.  (he is probably going to wonder why his website is suddenly getting tons of hits coming from this blog, but he might be tickled to know that he was picked as a "hey girl" guy... you never know.)

(Stephanie Dixon... you were already on this path with the one you made for me... you just didn't know the whole story.... Although quite hunky, I just don't think Jon Hamm would be very helpful at Bead and Button, do you?)

p.s.  This is the first of 2 contests coming up, so get your "hey girl" thinking caps on, if this one isn't for you... the next one MIGHT be!!

And now a word from Sylvie...

It's time to interrupt your viewing to talk about...
well, whatever I choose to talk about because I made this blog!

Today's topic...
Sylvie!!!
(that's me)

You may or may not know that in addition to being a world-renowned blogger,
I am ALSO a glass artist, as well as a beadwork designer and instructor.

You think I'm fun
(if you didn't you wouldn't be reading this part that doesn't have bead-hunks)
so you would LOVE my classes!!!

My 2012 schedule has some gaps that need to be filled
and I would LOVE to have fun people fill them!!

SO...RUN don't walk to you bead society or local bead store and say,
"HEY! You should have Sylvie come teach!!  She's FAB!"
Then give them my website (www.sylviebeads.com)
and HOPEFULLY we'll be laughing in person SOON!

Seriously, my classes are fun and exciting and like no one else's
because ALL my projects include my handmade glass beads...
which makes each kit totally unique!

How great is that??!!
 Wonder what I teach???
Here's a link to the whimsy that is Sylviebead classes...

Hope to see you at a class SOON!!!!

(this concludes today's shameless plug)

p.s.  I'm changing the Starbucks bribery to an Amazon.com one... I'm still happy to take bribes to feature your favorite hunk, but I think I'm going to be caffeinated for a LONG time... I figure there are always great beady books to buy!!!

Hey girl... this is important!

It's that time of day... time for me to distract you from these bead-hunks...
at least momentarily.

Thank you for the out-pouring of e-mail love (and coffee love too!)

TODAY, I'd like you to show some love to the folks at Beads of Courage.

If you don't know who they are or what they do, click the video link a little way down on the right-hand sidebar.  (you might want to grab a tissue because it's a touching story about how beads can change lives... really!)

Already know about Beads of Courage and want to help??
("yes! yes! yes!" you say!!  Because how can you say NO to Bead-hunks AND cute kids??!!)

Here's what to do...

1.  Buy Beads!  (we're all good at that and they've got some GREAT art beads on their site!) Click here to buy Artist-Made beads from Beads of Courage

2. Give Money!  It takes funds to buy the non-art beads that the kids are given as well as funds to start programs in new hospitals.  Anything you can give will help.  Click here to donate

3.  Give Beads!
Donating beads/funds to Beads of Courage is tax deductible... so it's a WIN WIN!!!

This concludes this part of the blog for today... think of this one like the fund-raising drive for PBS... you know you watch/listen (read the blog)... you KNOW you love the programming (cute guys talking about beads) so give!!!!!

Hey girl...

hey girl...
